BLUT + EISEN (D)

The name BLUT + EISEN (Blood + Iron) was intended to confront a society that had been inadequately denazified with the ugly face of fascism. While the name was meant as a provocation, the lyrics, in contrast, reveal their fundamental antifascist and antimilitarist stance as a critique of the antisocial civilization which we live in.
Founded in May 1982, Blut + Eisen saw themselves as a German-language punk band with their own uncompromising style. They gave a voice to the mess that school and their families caused. The lyrics are full of peculiar things that happen daily in this strange world. They are precise descriptions of the conditions which people are born and die in — and which tend to encourage the latter. Social criticism—but always with the right dose of sarcasm and self-irony.

Blut + Eisen’s high-speed punk is constantly interrupted by tempo stops and abrupt breaks; overly melodic passages are systematically dismantled and brushed against the grain of comfortable consumerism. Music that challenged the musicians and through which they found their distinctive style.

Blut + Eisen toured extensively throughout Germany and neighboring countries, including a Spanish tour with the Hamburg band “Torpedo Moskau” in February 1985.

After two seemingly final gigs in Hanover and Berlin in 1987, live recordings at Cafe Glocksee in 1994, and various performances in 2002, 2008, and 2022-2024, Blut + Eisen are now back on the road with a new singer.
